Hello! My name is Kay Ardery and I am excited to have your child in our library this year! To help you get to know me a little better, I'd like to share some information with you. First of all, I have completed my bachelor's degree in both elementary education and early childhood education, and have completed my master's degree in library and informational sciences. I hope to begin my doctoral degree sometime in the near future.
I am honored to note that I have been teaching at Stratford Elementary since 2001. The school has made some tremendous improvements during those years, and I am grateful to be a part of that. I hope to be a great resource in the future as well.
My school involvements include being the school coordinator for our yearly Mathathon event where children are encouraged to use their math skills to help raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Each year we raise a substantial amount for the kids at St. Jude's, and our students are making a huge difference in their lives! I'm also involved in managing our annual, local and district Science Fair. I am proud to say that Stratford has walked away with many ribbons for their outstanding work on their science boards! My organizations include having served as president of our local education association from 2003 to 2010. I am now a member of POE of Oklahoma. My memberships also include ties to the State Department of Education, and many educational websites and blogs that keep me up to date on educational changes occuring in the world.
In addition to teaching, I have an estore where I sell homemade candles and tarts. My company is called Serenity Creek Candles. My items can be found on Ebay if you are interested in those products.
My home resides in Stratford, Oklahoma with my daughter, Robyn, and my very active 2 year old grandson, River.
My hobbies include reading inspirational stories, completing brainteasers, playing computer games, tennis, scrapbooking, and spoiling my grandchildren.
Once again, I'd like to mention how excited I am to get to know you, and your child. I love being both, an experienced teacher, and a helpful librarian. So remember that I am here for you and your child!
I have great expectations for the school year, and hope you do too!
